SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN PRINTMAKERS

Begun in the late 1970’s, the Southwest Michigan Printmakers (SWMP) is a diverse and informal group of regional artist/printmakers dedicated to the creation of hand made and fine art prints. Meeting bi-monthly, the group encourages artists working in printmaking and promotes excellence in the various print mediums. Through exhibitions of their works, SWMP helps to encourage public knowledge, understanding, and support for printmaking.

NEW WORKS

New Works are those prints created by members outside of any SWMP framework. These prints illustrate the members’ commitment to their craft and ongoing exploration of their individual bodies of work.

SWMP SUITES: 'H20' AND 'LIGHT AND DARK'

These were the two broad themes responded to by participating members of SWMP in 2019 and 2021 respectively. The resulting group of prints are considered a suite, and were editioned for an exchange between the participants. These two print collections illustrate the many forms and mediums printmaking offers, and reflect the individual artist’s interpretation of the themes.

Exhibition Dates: May 7 through September 3, 2021.
