 creative residencies

The Ninth Wave Studio residency program welcomes applications from artists and writers working at all levels and stages of their careers. The residency provides dedicated studio space and the use of the Mary Louise Haynes House facilities.

The purpose of the Ninth Wave Studio’s residency program is to welcome adult artists and writers at all stages of their lives and careers for an uninterrupted period of creative work. The residency is suited for both emerging and established creatives wishing to investigate new areas of inquiry, explore new techniques, or develop a body of work. We accept applications on a rolling, space-available basis for residencies in May, June, July and August.

2023 NWS Artist Residencies are offered in 1 month-long intervals and include:

  • 24/7 access to our second floor studio;

  • Use of Mary Louise Haynes House facilities and parking area;

  • Entry to Kalamazoo Institute of Arts exhibitions, public lectures,  presentations and library use;

  • An exhibition or reading and reception at the close of the residency.

Ninth Wave Studio does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, national or ethnic origin, or disability in any phase of its admission.

The fee in 2023 is $500 for NWS Residencies. While accommodation is not included with the Residency, we can provide applicants with a list of local housing upon request. Please contact Linda Rzoska at lindarzoska@ninthwavestudio.online with any questions.

NOTE:

Currently only our second floor studio space is available for 2023 residencies. All our first floor studio spaces are occupied.
